The faculty and I welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year!  We have been fortunate to retain our full day Kindergarten and remain a K-5 building. This year we are proud to offer an Autistic Support classroom which has been fully supported by the Pennsylvania Autism Initiative. We have also partnered with Head Start to include their pre-school program right here at Rochester.

We are exposing our students to more technology! They will continue to enrich their language arts skills via the computer based program LEXIA. However, through the use of iPads, our students can explore LEXIA and other applications that will further enhance their language development. SMART boards have been placed in our Kindergarten area,  as well as in fourth and fifth grades for the students to learn interactively with their teachers. Some students will even learn to develop pod-casts!

Officer Robin Redfern from the Beaver County Sheriff's Office has joined our team as our D.A.R.E. officer. We are most grateful for this opportunity and for our fifth grade students to learn valuable life lessons from Officer Redfern!

Mr. Isaac Dixon has joined our team of teachers in the physical education department and will bring his expertise in character education to the gym. He has been instrumental in organizing Rachel's Challenge for the district which will dove tail nicely into our existing Stand Tall bully prevention program.  Students will learn how showing compassion can improve relationships one step at a time. "Starting a chain reaction" of kindness will surely be uplifting for our school.

Adagio Health leads us in Nutrition Education through their Power Up Program monthly for students in grades K-5. Our students will even sample healthy snacks! Furthermore, our cafeteria director, Mrs.Siget, received a grant that supports these efforts as well! There will be fresh fruits and vegetables abound!

Rochester’s K-5 classrooms continue to be characterized by excellent instruction and caring student- teacher relationships. It is our mission to challenge every child to their potential. Our research- based materials, such as Story Town, Everyday Math, and Science it's Elementary, support our teachers in their efforts. Students will receive additional support daily through a morning tutoring program and an Intervention and Enrichment program which is embedded into their schedules.

Mrs.Lambert is our guidance counselor and provides Character Education and support programs for students and parents alike. Our Stand Tall class meetings will take place on Thursdays and you are always welcome to attend. Through our school wide positive behavior support initiatives we will work to improve the conduct of our students. Working with you,we will teach our students responsibility, respect and safety.

We have always opened our doors to families believing in the importance of creating a strong link between school and home. Many opportunities exist for family involvement through our PTA, Grandparents Day, our volunteer program, and the Parent Advisory Committee. I invite you to be an active participant in your child's school!

We look forward to working with you and your children! Together we can make it a great school year!

Regards,

Mr. Damon
K-12 School Principal
